Welcome to Overeaters Anonymous.... Overeaters Anonymous (OA) is a 12-step program of recovery. We are patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous and use the word "food" instead of "alcohol" and "compulsive overeater" instead of "alcoholic." In OA, we talk about the compulsion to overeat as a disease, just as deadly as alcoholism or a drug addiction. We are a fellowship of individuals who, through shared experience, strength, and hope, are recovering from compulsive overeating. We welcome everyone who wants to stop eating compulsively. There are no dues or fees for members. We are self-supporting through our own voluntary contributions. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop eating compulsively...not the ability, just the desire. If food or food thoughts are making your life unmanageable, youve come to the right place and have taken a very important first step by checking out our website. We are an anonymous program and ask that our anonymity be protected. There are no guidelines for food or weight. Every persons program is unique. If you need help with specifics, we suggest a sponsor or professional help. Click here if you're new to OA and would like more information.
The Frederick County Area Overeaters Anonymous Intergroup Website is
